Would you like to explore the Irish Coastline, wander the Scottish Highlands, soak up the sun in Spain or roam the ancient ruins in Greece? A host of beautiful and exciting travel destinations are just a quick trip away when you study overseas. Barclay Educational focuses on university placement for students in the UK, France, Ireland and Germany and many of our students tell us that one of the best parts of studying abroad is the chance to visit these wonderful places with newfound friends. And all of these popular tourist hot spots can be easily reached by hopping on an affordable commuter flight or taking a quick train trip. In today’s blog we look at some of the amazing experiences that Ireland has to offer.
If incredible views and the storied ruins of ancient castles appeal to your tourist tendencies then Ireland is a country you’ll love to explore. Ireland is the home of several historic cities including Dublin with a castle that dates back to the 13th century as well as St. Patrick’s Cathedral which was founded in 1191. Dublin is also home to the Writer’s Museum where you can find out about the lives of several famous authors who were born there such as James Joyce and Oscar Wilde. If you’re a fan of lush green spaces, be sure to visit Phoenix Park or St. Stephen’s Green.
If you’re looking to get the gift of gab during your visit, take a side trip to Cork and visit Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone. You can also load up on refreshments after a day a sightseeing at the English market which is a covered shopping area which has been in existence since the late 1700’s. For art and history buffs, maybe the city of Limerick is more to your liking. Visit the storied 13th Century King John’s Castle and the Limerick City Art Museum to see both classical and contemporary works by Irish Artists.
As well as offering incredible travel opportunities, Ireland offers some real benefits to students applying from Canada, particularly Ontario. Many of the Institutes offer programs where college graduates can turn their advanced diploma into a degree in just one year. Travel and Tourism is one area of study where many of our students have successfully obtained a degree. Another plus is that Ireland also offers a very affordable cost of living compared to some countries in parts of the UK. See what our student Emily has to say about her time in Cork.
