The province of New Brunswick is predicting a shortage of teachers in the coming years, saying that they are concerned the current number of graduates from university will not be enough to fill the openings which will be coming available. Did you know that by studying in the UK, you can complete your teacher training in just one year instead of the two years required in Canada? The University of Strathclyde has an excellent program with teaching degrees which have a strong track record and are highly valued by students. The University traces its history back to 1837, when David Stow founded one of the first teacher education institutions in the UK.
The Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is the graduate entry route to those who want to become a Primary or Secondary teacher in Scotland. However, the PGDE is an internationally recognised qualification, so newly qualified teachers will be able to apply for qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent in their home country.
