If you are interested in physiotherapy and want to head overseas for your post-secondary education, consider studying in the heart of the lively city of Glasgow at Glasgow Caledonian University. The aim at Glasgow Caledonian University is to develop graduates with the values and skills to become innovative and problem solving practitioners. You will develop a scientific outlook and deal with patients in a variety of settings; from neuro rehabilitation to musculoskeletal to respiratory care and industry.
Whether working in a hospital, the community, industry, schools, sport, public or private health settings, physiotherapists help people overcome physical difficulties by restoring movement and function to as near normal as possible. Physiotherapists are key members of the health care team working in a challenging and rewarding profession.
To develop the skills required in physiotherapy, you will practise on other students in your class. Your learning is also supported by visiting the clinical simulation lab, field trips, practice education placements and e-learning. You will also gain experience in an elective placement in the UK or abroad.
Students undertake at least 1000 hours of supervised practice placement experience throughout the programme. This comprises seven placements of 4 consecutive weeks, except for the first placement which is 3 weeks in duration.
All placements are undertaken within Scotland and are dependent on placement availability. Students usually travel daily to and from placement, however in some cases accommodation is required. If you are interested in applying from Canada, please contact Jackie at JSB@barclayedu.com
