Overview Occupational Therapy
This innovative course is designed for graduates who wish to qualify as an Occupational Therapist. It also offers eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). It offers an accelerated two-year route of study.
This unique program has been developed alongside the MSc Physiotherapy and Master of Social Work programs. This helps prepare students to work effectively within the complex and rapidly changing environment of health and social care. The University offers access to a state of the art Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre which allows students to develop skills in realistic settings including the home environment. This program will prepare you for the real world of Occupational Therapy by offering practical applications and intellectual challenges at the same time. Students will be ready to enter the work force as confident, competent and autonomous Occupational Therapists equipped for the delivery of personalised and responsive services, which place individuals and families at the centre of their care and support.
This new course is designed for graduates who wish to qualify as a Physiotherapist. It offers eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) through an accelerated two-year route.
The course has been developed in collaboration with Occupational Therapy and Social Work programs. It will prepare students to work within the complex and rapidly evolving environment of health and social care.
Physiotherapy-specific modules will prepare students for clinical practice, using theoretical understanding, critical thinking skills, and application of knowledge and skills to physiotherapy practice. The course will provide ‘real-world” experiences by making use of scenario-based learning opportunities and simulation. Also helpful is the fact that service users will assist in the areas of teaching, learning and assessment.
Students will also experience collaborative inter-professional modules,working closely with students from the other disciplines in health and social care to develop skills in communication, innovative thinking, clinical reasoning and team working.
Overview Social Work
This new course is designed for graduates who wish to qualify as a social worker within a two-year time frame.
It has been developed alongside the MSc Physiotherapy and MSc Occupational Therapy programs to prepare students to work more effectively within the rapidly evolving environment of health and social care. Being both intellectually challenging and practical, this program will prepare students for the real world of social work within the areas of Children and Families, Criminal Justice and Adult social work. Upon graduation students will be equipped to work as autonomous social worker, equipped to lead the delivery of personalised and responsive services, which place individuals and families at the centre of their care and support.
