Who We Are
Barclay Educational is a private guidance counselling service based in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. For more than a decade, our team, lead by company founder Jackie Barclay, has helped students navigate every step of their educational journey. Through one-on-one counselling and guidance, we help our clients achieve their education goals. Whether you are interested in studying overseas, attending specialized law or medical schools, finding the right university for you, or just want to see what your options are, we can help. Barclay has even expanded its services into two new areas: Mock Interviews for students applying for summer jobs or co-op positions, as well as Time Management Seminars for students who are struggling to stay organized.
Barclay Educational Services staff have more than thirty years of combined experience in both public and private education. Our team is well-versed in admission guidelines and practices within Canada, The UK and many parts of Europe. Our experience means we can answer your questions about programs and requirements for college or university both here in Canada and overseas, saving you hours of research, and insuring that you make the right choice for your skills, abilities and career goals. Our staff will also work with you every step of the way to keep your application on track and make sure that the process goes smoothly to give you the best possible chance of success.

Our post-grad counselling for international schools is done at NO COST to you and even includes handling the transfer of your documents, feedback on your personal essay, and support for the complicated student Visa process.
Why Use Barclay
Jaqueline (Jackie) Barclay has served as Managing Partner of Barclay Educational Services since 2007. She most recently served as the director of University Placement Services at one of Canada’s Largest private boarding schools. She holds a Master of Education from Bircham/ Boston University and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Family and Social Relations) from the University of Guelph. Jackie is well recognized in the field of college and university admissions, with over 10 years of experience in counselling both Canadian and International students. She is passionate about helping students find academic and career pathways that will help them reach their full potential.
Lisa Knap is a new addition to Barclay Educational Services, undertaking the roles of education counsellor as well as promotional support. Lisa is a journalist and educator with more than twenty years of tv news experience at the local, national and international level. Lisa has also taught journalism for more than a decade at both Mohawk College and Sheridan College in the post-grad and undergrad programs. Lisa graduated from McMaster University in Political Science and English before attending Ryerson University for journalism. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications.

Private Guidance Counselling
We start counseling high school students at the end of Grade 10. We have various package for students in Grades 10 / 11 ( Junior Package ) and then another package for students in Grade 12 ( Package 1 ). The focus is to assist high school students at Ontario schools with their pathway into either college or university.
All appointments take place in our office at McMaster Innovation Park, 175 Longwood Rd. South, Suite 312A, Hamilton, Ontario, L8P 0A1

No, the only fee students would pay is an application fee at some of the schools we work with. There is no charge for the counselling we do with students that wish to study at one of our International partner schools.
There is no cost for the student because we will be paid by the school.
Yes. You will need a Visa to study. The Visa application for the UK and France will be completed here with the assistance of Barclay Educational. The Visa for Germany and Ireland will be completed in the first 90 days upon arrival with the assistance of the International Office at the school’s students attend.
For the most part students will be allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week and full-time hours during the holidays.
Entry requirements will vary depending on the school and program? At Barclay Educational we will assess your academic documents to ensure you are applying to the right schools.
Yes, there is a portion of Canadian loans that can be used Internationally. Please be sure to apply for these early as there will be certain forms the International school will need to complete.
Yes! All courses will be taught in English, even in France and Germany.
