Anglia Ruskin University has its origins in the Cambridge School of Art, opened in 1858 by John Ruskin. The University of York has developed considerably since it was established in 1963. The University of South Wales was formed in 2013 by the merger of the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport.
