A growing number of Canadians are heading overseas to study for a Law Degree in the UK. But why has this become such a popular option? There are a few great reasons why studying internationally is advantageous for students, including more flexible options for program entry as well as the ease of transferability of legal qualifications from overseas.
The first reason many students head to the UK for Law is that the 3 year LLB program is accessible directly from high school! For entrance to this type of program a GPA of approximately 80% is usually required. Not only are students able to work (after writing some qualifying exams upon their return home) but in addition, they have completed their studies and are usually earning an income during the time they still would have been taking classes had they enrolled here in Canada.
Another bonus is the option of studying for a 2 year Accelerated Degree (JD Pathway) for students who have already earned an undergraduate degree. In this case, an average of approximately 75% is usually required. Once again, students have the advantage of working and making money instead of spending yet another year of paying tuition and attending classes.
