Applications are now being accepted for the BN (Hons) Adult Nursing Degree at Bangor University in Wales. This is the first time ever that the program has been open to Canadian students. In addition to qualifying for a nursing degree, after graduation students now have a 2 year stay back option to work in the UK.
This BN (Hons) Adult Nursing Program will prepare you to care for the needs of people across the lifespan, including safeguarding the health of mother and baby. You will be able to experience that diversity during placements in clinical areas where adult nurses practice which might include:
- Acute sector general and specialist medical and surgical nursing
- Critical care nursing (intensive and high dependency care, emergency department, theatres and recovery)
- Community nursing in the home environment and primary care
Adult nursing offers a range of interesting and worthwhile careers in healthcare with opportunities available to develop skills and knowledge in diverse areas, such as: leadership, advanced clinical practice, education or research. The BA (Hons) Nursing runs for 3 years (36 months), however, Registered Practical Nurses who were trained in Canada may be able to complete the program in just 2 years.
After graduation, students who want to return home to work would undergo the same process to transfer their skills as any other Internationally trained nurse with the NNAS and their own provincial nursing authority.
There are a limited number of spaces available for this program. Anyone applying from Canada is asked to contact Barclay Educational Services. Barclay is the only agent recognized by Bangor as being qualified to accept Canadian students for this program. For more info email Jackie Barclay at JSB@barclayedu.com
