The June 30th deadline to apply to study overseas is fast approaching. But there is still time to apply to Law, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Business, Forensics and many other programs which are popular with Canadian students.
Barclay Educational Services works with more than 25 partner schools in the UK, France and Germany, where we have sent hundreds of students over the past decade. There are many advantages to studying overseas versus staying here in Canada, especially in particular areas of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Some of the best examples for undergraduate programs are Law, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Occupational Therapy and Pharmacy, all of which are accessible to Canadian students directly from high school. Equally important is the fact that these qualifications are all easily transferable to working back in Canada. This means that students can not only save time, but money in many instances. In the case of Chiropractic in Canada, it requires an undergraduate degree plus FOUR YEARS of chiropractic training in order to be qualified. In the UK, there is only a foundation year plus the four years of training which means that students save two or more years of tuition costs. When this is taken into account, it means that going overseas is usually no more expensive than staying here at home. The qualifications are no less valid due to the shorter study time. The difference is simply because in the UK, programs focus strictly on core courses rather than including many of the electives which are part of the curriculum here in Canada.
But even pursing postgraduate studies in the UK can be more cost effective than doing so here in Canada. In the case of Law, students with an undergraduate degree are able to undertake a 2 year Accelerated Law Program which again is transferable when they return home to start work in Canada. Also worth noting is that most Masters Programs in places like the UK can be completed in just one year as opposed to the two years usually required here at home. Again, this means that despite undertaking the cost of living along with tuition overseas, it is usually no more expensive than pursuing a two year Masters program in Canada.

One other advantage is a unique arrangement with Ontario Colleges, whereby an Ontario student with a 3 year Advanced Diploma can often complete a degree with just one additional year of study at an Institute in Ireland. Some of the most popular examples with Canadian students are Tourism and Engineering.
It is still possible to apply to any of these programs for a Sept 2019 start! However, you must contact us immediately so there is time to get your paperwork in order. In many cases it is also necessary to obtain a Student Visa, which requires at least a month for processing. Barclay Educational assists with this entire process at no cost to students. As a recognized Canadian agent our fee is paid by the schools.
