Deadline Extended for Students Applying to Nursing at Bangor University
Barclay Educational Services is pleased to announce that the Jan 31st deadline to apply to Adult Nursing at Bangor University is being extended for a short period of time. The 3 yr BSc Nursing (Honours) program has been opened up to Canadian students for the FIRST TIME EVER and qualifies you as a nurse in the UK. This program requires a slightly lower average for admission than here in Ontario. In addition, the course recognizes the qualifications of Canadian trained RPN’s so it is possible for those professionals to complete the program in two years rather than three. In addition, the program is available to qualifying students directly from high school so that no undergraduate study at university is required.
A significant strength of the Bangor University Program is that it is a 50/50 split; that is, that half of the course time is spent on lectures and the other half is spent gaining important clinical experience which is necessary in order to launch your nursing career. In fact, the program at Bangor University offers one of the highest number of hours spent in clinical experience when compared to some other similar programs. It should be noted that the program is eligible for OSAP funding. Students are also able to work 20 hours a week during school time and are generally allowed to work full-time during school holiday periods.
For those who wish to return to Canada to work as an RN, the process to qualify back home is the same as for any other Internationally Trained Nurse. Bangor University is located in Wales and offers a safe, friendly campus for students. In addition to enjoying the educational benefits of this well-respected program, Wales offers an exciting international experience with lots of opportunity to travel cheaply to many other interesting places.
